Aqueous Monoprint Tile

Aqueous monoprint tiles are a one of a kind tile designed, where traditional marbling is performed on each individual tile, creating the same pattern and color in uniformity, but each with a different individuality of the design.

Traditional marbling, one of the highest forms of painting, has existed for over eight hundred years.  Possessing a water-like quality, this is a very precise art, which captures the essence of a fluid moment.  Owned only by royalty in Japan and found in the spiritual realm of Turkish beliefs, this art form has inspired and enthralled many different cultures.  Marbled images are found in East Indian art and many European countries have long histories of marbling, including Italy, France, the Netherlands and England.  At the time of the American colonies, money edges were marbled for the Continental Congress to prevent counterfeiting.  During modern times, the practice of marbling full time is only continued by just a few hundred artists in the world.  I practice western marbling in traditional form, creating an aqueous monoprint on each tile I paint.  The tile is then glazed and fired for permanent installation in any location.

Each tile is assigned a copyright that is independently owned by the creator.

Due to the tiles being handmade, batches may vary according to samples given.
